Carbone addresses these relationships with a desperate kind of sensitivity. I give it four stars instead of five only because I believe that Carbone has many more years of even better novels ahead of her. She is definitely a writer to watch. Riveting, to say the least. I have been to Turin and LA so am familiar with where the story takes place. Carbone's prose draws you in so that you experience every cut and all the pain. If you or anyone in your family has suffered with addiction this is a book to consider.
